Department of Education to Cease Printing and Mailing Federal Registers and Dear Colleague Letters

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) recently issued a Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) announcing the intention to cease printing and mailing Federal Registers and Dear Colleague Letters as of August 1, 1998. Since April, 1998, ED has been printing and mailing the letters in addition to distributing them on the "Information for Financial Aid Administrators" (IFAP) web-site at:

http://ifap.ed.gov

If a Dear Colleague Letter or other publication is very lengthy or difficult to duplicate on the web site, ED will make printed copies available through the mail.  Publications, such as the Federal Student Financial Aid Handbook, will continue to be printed and distributed.

A copy of this DCL is available on ED's web-site at http://ifap.ed.gov. If you are unable to access this web site and would like a copy of the DCL, please contact Lynda Reid at (801) 321-7211. Any questions regarding this DCL may be directed to the Policy and Training Department at (801) 321-7166.
