The U.S. Department of Education (ED) recently issued a Federal Register, dated February 4, 1999, seeking applications for participating in the Distance Education Demonstration Program. Under the Distance Education Demonstration Program, selected institutions providing distance education programs may receive waivers of specific statutory and regulatory provisions governing student financial assistance programs. Applications must be submitted by April 1, 1999. Instructions for submitting applications are included in the Federal Register and can be accessed from ED's web site at http://www.ifap.ed.gov
Applications should be mailed to Marianne R. Phelps, U.S. Department of Education, 600 Maryland Avenue, S.W., (Room 4082, ROB - 3), Washington, D.C. 20202. Applications may also be submitted electronically to: DistanceDemo@ed.gov.
