Change in Preclaim Assistance Request Date

As you know, the 1998 Amendments to the Higher Education Act (HEA) were enacted on October 7, 1998. Due to the changes contained in these amendments, it has become necessary for the Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority (UHEAA) to establish a new date for preclaim assistance (PCA) requests.

Effective May 1, 1999, for loans which are guaranteed by UHEAA, participating lenders must submit a complete and accurate PCA request within a period that begins 10 days before and ends 10 days after the 70th day of delinquency of the loan. In other words, the lender must request PCA between the 60th and 80th day of delinquency, inclusive.
