Department of Education Announces New Training Series
The Department of Education (ED) recently issued two Dear Colleague Letters (DCLs) announcing new training opportunities for financial aid professionals. DCL ANN-99-3 discusses a training series for financial aid office staff with little or no experience in financial aid. The three and one-half day workshop covers the basic concepts and procedures of managing and awarding federal student financial aid. Training workshops are scheduled at various locations throughout the country. The DCL provides the sites, dates, and registration information for these workshops.
DCL ANN-99-4 announces a series of fiscal officer training workshops. The two-day workshop focuses on accounting, record-keeping, and reporting elements that schools need to know in order to administer the Title IV student financial aid programs. Both fiscal office and financial aid office staff with at least a year of experience in Title IV aid programs are encouraged to attend. The DCL provides an agenda, date and location list, and online registration instructions.
Copies of these DCLs are available on ED's web-site at http://ifap.ed.gov.
