Accrediting Agencies and State Approval Agencies

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) recently released a Federal Register, dated September 23, 1999, regarding nationally recognized accrediting agencies and state approval agencies. ED is required by statute to publish a list of accrediting agencies that have been determined to be reliable authorities concerning the quality of education or training provided by the institutions or programs these agencies approve. The Federal Register contains the current list of nationally recognized agencies and supersedes any previously published list.
