Common Manual Interim Policy Update Correction
The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority (UHEAA) was recently notified of a correction to Common Manual policy language approved on August 19, 1999 (see UHEAA Bulletin: Volume 99 - Issue 60). This correction will be incorporated into the Common Manual when the next annual update in published in July 2000.
The bulletin language issued reads:
"A lender may now grant an in-school deferment to a borrower based
on student status information that documents the borrower's enrollment
of at least half-time."
To accurately reflect the language the Common Manual Governing
Board approved, this should read:
"A lender must now grant an in-school deferment to a borrower based
on student status information that documents the borrower's enrollment
of at least half-time."
Any questions related to the Common Manual should be directed to the UHEAA Policy and Training Department at (801) 321-7166 or by email at cjudd@utahsbr.edu.
