ED Publishes New Audit Guide

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) recently published a Dear Partner Letter, GEN-00-05, regarding the release of a new version of ED's Audit Guide: Audits of Federal Student Financial Assistance Programs at Participating Institutions and Institution Servicers.  This Audit Guide, published in January 2000, supersedes the July 1997 version and is intended for audit periods ending December 31, 1999 or later. Although ED strongly encourages the use of the January 2000 Audit Guide for the audit period ending December 31, 1999, audits for this period using the July 1997 Audit Guide will be accepted.  However, for audit periods ending June 30, 2000 or later, use of the January 2000 Audit Guide will be strictly enforced.
