UHEAA Ombudsman

The  As referenced in UHEAA Bulletin Volume 2000 - Issue 24, new final regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) implement changes to provisions affecting borrower disputes.  As §682.208(c)(3)(i) indicates, if a borrower disputes the terms of his or her loan in writing and the lender does not resolve the dispute, the lender's response must provide the borrower with a contact at the guaranty agency for resolution.

The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority (UHEAA) has appointed Scott Gilmore as UHEAA Ombudsman for student loans. Scott's responsibilities will include consulting with schools, lenders, and ED in efforts to address and resolve borrower disputes.  Lenders should provide the following notification information:
