The U.S. Department of Education (ED) recently issued an Announcement, dated October 2, 2000, regarding the release of Fiscal Year (FY)1998 Official Cohort Default Rates.  Schools are invited to view their FY 1998 Official Cohort Default Rates on ED's Default Management web site at http://www.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/defaultmanagement/cdr.html. The Announcement also makes note of a letter sent to college presidents and financial aid officers.  The letter, dated September 28, 2000, provides additional information regarding default rates and is attached for your review.
