Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG)
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) recently released
an Action Letter providing additional information concerning recent changes
and enhancements to the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG). SAIG
is ED's vehicle for electronically transmitting and receiving data on financial
aid programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act, as
amended. The Title IV delivery systems that use SAIG for data
transmissions include the following:

Central Processing System (CPS);

National Student Loan Data Systems (NSLDS);
-
Campus-based Title IV programs for FISAP; and,
-
Pell Grant Recipient Financial Management System (RFMS).
This Action Letter provides information and enhancements regarding SAIG,
including the following:

Enrollment form updated.

Recent release of ED's SAIG enrollment web site, http://SFAWebEnroll.ed.gov.

An updated release of the EDconnect software version 4.1.0.

The Recipient Financial Management System (RFMS) has been categorized as
a separate Application System.

Replacement of mass distribution of software and documentation products
via the mail with ED's web site: http://SFADownload.ed.gov.

Spanish-speaking customers now have improved access to bilingual operators.

Updates to the National Student Loan Data System's on-line services.
-
Option from ED's SAIG enrollment web site to inactivate a WAN ID.
