Access To and Use of NSLDS Information

The U.S. Department of Education recently released Dear Colleague Letter GEN-05-06 regarding proper access and usage of the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). Please see http://www.ifap.ed.gov/dpcletters/GEN0506.html for guidelines and requirements an organization or institution must follow when accessing the sensitive information contained in the system.

Violations of the privacy laws and access restrictions to NSLDS may result in termination of a user’s and organization’s access to the system and possibly the eligibility to participate in Title IV student aid programs. Please review this DCL carefully to assure your organization maintains full compliance to the privacy laws and terms of usage of the NSLDS.
