ED Announces Distribution Plan for FAFSA on the Web Worksheet and Paper FAFSA
In the most recent Dear Partner letter from the U.S. Department of Education, GEN-05-10 , changes to the distribution of paper FAFSAs and the release of a revised worksheet for electronic filing of FAFSAs was announced.
As 80 percent of all FAFSAs are submitted online, the 2006-2007 version of FAFSA on the Web Worksheet has been redesigned to assist students and families in preparing all information needed to apply for federal aid on the Internet. Supplies of the worksheet will be sent to schools for distribution to students in October. Additional orders may be submitted as early as mid September. The development and expected use of this worksheet will greatly reduce the need for paper FAFSAs. Therefore, the amount of paper FAFSAs automatically sent to schools will be reduced to about 10 percent of the school’s initial 2005-2006 order for paper FAFSAs. Schools wishing to order more quantities of the paper FAFSA may do so after mid November.
Please refer to GEN-05-10 for further details.
