DCL Outlines Changes to Loan Programs

The U.S. Department of Education released Dear Colleague Letter GEN-06-02 on March 10, 2006 outlining changes to Title IV loan programs as the result of the Higher Education Reconciliation Act of 2005. This letter may be found on the IFAP Web site at http://www.ifap.ed.gov/dpcletters/GEN0602.html.

Please note that the loan limits chart on page 7 of the document that is presented as an attachment to this DCL should have the following corrections in the column for additional unsubsidized amounts:

On the third line the amount for 3 rd year and beyond should be $5,000, not $10,500

On the fifth line the amount for Preparatory coursework should be $4,000, not $6,625
